In two years, Volkswagen will launch the fourth generation of the Taos SUV, and it’s expected to be the most advanced SUV in the world. Although the design of the Taos is said to be based on the Audi Q8, there will be plenty of new features to look forward to. To deliver these features, Volkswagen will be using a new technology called “Wiring for High-Speed Electronics” (W4HE). As a result, the W4HE is a major reason why the Taos is expected to be able to hit 60mph from a stop in 8.5 seconds, a full 4.5 seconds faster than the second generation Taos.

On Monday the company released the very first picture of the new VW SUV, the 2024 Taos. The car is the newest model from the German automaker and the first one to be unveiled, for the almost 20-year-old model year. But, the car is also the one where Volkswagen is being most creative and ambitious in the world of electric cars, as it aims for a full-electric range of over 500 kilometers.

The shortage of chips has affected companies around the world, and many automakers have had to delay delivery of vehicles. One of the most anticipated new SUVs, the Volkswagen Taos, would not be held back by a shortage of inventory to meet its June delivery schedule. It is already considered the most efficient small SUV on the market, and its starting price makes it one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs in its class. There are other features that should make Taos very popular.

What technology does the VW Taos 2024 have?

word-image-7781 Volkswagen Taos 2024 | VW One of the most interesting aspects of the new Volkswagen Taos 2024 is undoubtedly the inventive and useful technology with which it is equipped. The VW Digital Cockpit is standard on all models: Base models have an 8-inch digital instrument panel and a 6.5-inch touchscreen in the middle, while higher trim levels have a 10.3-inch instrument panel and an 8-inch touchscreen. It also features VW’s AppConnect smartphone integration system, Sirius XM and BeatsAudio®, which enhances the audio system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, as is a user-friendly navigation system. In terms of safety, the IQ.DRIVE® active safety package is standard on the higher SEL version and can be retrofitted on all lower versions. Driver assistance technologies include adaptive cruise control with semi-automatic stop-and-go, active blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, automatic collision warning and emergency braking.

When will the 2024 Volkswagen Taos be on the market?

According to Car and Driver, despite the global shortage of microprocessor chips that control the IQ.DRIVE® safety system, Volkswagen is confident that deliveries will begin in June as promised. There even seems to be a general consensus at VW that the new Taos will be preferred over the 2024 Tiguan when scarcity forces the choice. However, it is now expected that both vehicles will be released in time.

2024 Volkswagen Taos

This all-new SUV is beautiful on the inside and stunning on the outside. Each Volkswagen Taos 2024 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is good for 158 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive models are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel drive models are equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Estimated fuel economy is pretty impressive for a car in this class, with front-wheel-drive models achieving a combined 31 MPG and all-wheel-drive models 28 MPG. The VW Taos has three trim levels – the base model S, SE and SEL. The base model starts at $24,190, while the top-of-the-line SEL starts at $32,685. Seats in fabric are standard, but real leather seats are available in the SEL version. The top model comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, but you can upgrade to the lower versions if you wish. The SE and SEL configurations also feature a remote starter and 18- or 19-inch wheels instead of the standard 17-inch wheels. Volkswagen appears to be suspending the launch of the VW Taos in 2024, and perhaps even delaying the launch of the Tiguan until 2024 if the chip shortage worsens. And if the final product meets expectations, it will definitely be a good choice for the German manufacturer. And hopefully we’ll even see the Taos Basecamp concept in production. Maybe it will be the off-road chaos we didn’t even know we needed. APPROPRIATE: Who should buy the 2024 Volkswagen Taos?
