Princess Cruises has been a constant presence in the world of luxury travel for over a century, introducing individuals to the world of ocean travel and providing a safe and luxurious way for them to explore the planet’s most beautiful destinations. Now, for the first time in more than 20 years, Princess Cruises is once again ready to go to sea. The cruise lines parent company, Carnival Corporation and plc, has announced that it will resume the full range of its fleet of cruises from Florida and California this summer. Princess Cruises is the only cruise line to resume operations following the devastating 2010 Carnival Triumph disaster, which resulted in the death of over 1,500 passengers and crew members.

On September 30, 2015, Princess Cruises announced that it would resume operations from Port Canaveral, Florida and Port Hueneme, California. The decision follows a 2-month suspension announced in July, which left the company’s 22 ships laid up and idle in the U.S.

Princess Cruises has restarted service to its two Florida ports with the company’s new fleet of ships and will do the same from its California ports, according to a statement released by the company. The company’s first ships, the Oasis of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas, will be in Florida starting February 1, according to a news release. The company’s second new ship in the line, the Allure of the Seas, is scheduled to arrive in California on February 28, the release says.

Princess Cruises has announced plans to resume cruises on several ships from the United States this fall. The cruise line will resume operations from Florida and California on seven Princess cruise ships beginning in September.

The news comes after the cruise line gave details in July about resuming service to Alaska from Seattle, Washington. The cruise lines return in the coming months, but with important health protocols in place. Let’s take a look at Princess Cruises’ reboot plan.

Princess Cruises resumes operations in US

Cruise Line is working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure a safe return this year. Finally, beginning in September 2024, several Princess cruise ships will again sail from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale.

Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises, said:

We are delighted to once again be able to offer our travel-loving customers more options for a cruise holiday.

We appreciate the support of the government and port authorities with whom we have worked closely to make these travel options affordable, considerate and safe for our guests.

The cruises will call at many of cruisers’ favorite destinations, including the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Mexico, Hawaii and, of course, the California coast. The cruise line was hit hard by the global pandemic, especially after the intense media coverage of the situation on the Diamond Princess ship in Japan. Princess Cruises can now look forward to putting the virus behind them and continuing with their health protocols.

All flights are open to passengers who have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to departure. Guests must present proof before boarding. Princess Cruises says the protocols will be adapted to local authorities in the ports. The cruise line also takes into account the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control to ensure the safety of guests and crew members.

Princess adds its details on many aspects of the cruise, including dining, entertainment and shore excursions. This will be announced in the coming weeks.

After a week-long shutdown from the disastrous fire, Princess Cruises will be returning to action with its fleet of vessels this week after being granted a permit from the U.S. Coast Guard. The cruise line was forced to stop taking passengers on its four ships from the Port Canaveral, Florida, and Port Hueneme, California, on October 23 after the cabin fire on board the Carnival Triumph left the ship fully engulfed in flames..
